Lucy Liu is an American actress voice actress director producer, and vocalist. As an intelligent and attractive actress, she serves as a role model to many Asian actors who are in Hollywood that want to be successful. Following a string of early appearances in some popular series she gained fame when she joined the crew of the cult comedy series Ally McBeal where she played the malicious Ling Woo. Following a dramatic rise in her popularity, she got roles on the big screen such as Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. Her performance was outstanding in the role of Japanese O-Ren, a gangster from Japan (Quentin Tarantino) in Kill Bill Volume 1 by Quentin Tarantino. Around the same time she also played lead roles in some film that did not make the top of the charts, like Rise: Blood Hunter. Later, she became an actor in voice for animated films including Kung Fu Panda. The small screen role of Mia Mason in Cashmere Mafia did not yield positive results. The role she played in the critically-acclaimed police drama Southland allowed her to regain her status as an actress of note. Liu chooses her roles carefully to prevent being stereotyped within an industry where competition is fierce. Liu is also an accomplished artist, who is not restricted due to her ethnic background.
