Walker went to Germantown Friends School, which is part of the Germantown Friends School located in Philadelphia's Germantown and graduated with an award in 1994. Then she attended Harvard College where she earned an Associate of Arts degree in 1998. Welker is engaged to John Hughes a well-known marketing director for Merck at Philadelphia and the couple has two kids. They started an relationship in the year 2014. John her husband has an age difference of four years compared to her. They decided to take their relationship to the next level because it was running so smoothly.
