Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also a writer. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist, author television host, and proprietor of the independently liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Originating from Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England along with her family members at age 16. While at Cambridge University she earned a MA qualification in Economics. At 21 she became president of the famed debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student who was elected to this position. She was a conservative syndicated writer following her graduation as well. When The Huffington Post launched a year after, she created an online platform for voice that provided criticisms of political situations. The fame of her name helped by attracting a variety of high-profile contributors to post their views on news, politics and other topics. Arianna became famous when she made the decision to stand as an independent candidate in the California recall vote to succeed Governor Davis. Aside from that she was the leader of the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. Forbes identified her as being the 12th-highest ranked woman on the planet in 2009 and Guardian added her to the Top 100 Media List at the time. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made her president of that media unit, which comprised of many existing AOL properties too such as Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos, a journalist who was also a business consultant. They were very close to her father. However, it is her bond with her mother who shaped her. Her leadership skills were evident from the beginning. In her 16th year she began her study in her native United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college she was part of Cambridge Union. Cambridge Union debating group where she was elected the first female president, and also the only foreign president. In 1972, she graduated with the degree of Master's in Economics. Following after graduation she became a television presenter and columnist. In addition, she was a part of the show Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books taking editorial help from Bernard Levin.
