English actress Veronica Cartwright was only 13 years old when she was cast for the part of the birthday girl Cathy Brenner who narrowly escapes the throngs of ferocious fowl in the tiny village of Bodega Bay in Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1963 horror film The Birds. Bonanza the first western in color told the tale of the Cartwrights which were a fictional family living near Virginia City Nevada, an actual mining town during the 1890s. The actor appeared as Cartwright who was the oldest Cartwright child whose mom Marie was French Creole. She had been a widow whose son died of fever in Episode Marie My Love.
